LONGWOOD, FL-Dive into a trove of truth and insights in author Jim O'Bryon's humorous, outside-the-box I Fail to Miss Your Point: A Personal Collection of Quips, Quotes, Inspirational Stories and Other Stuff ($26.99, paperback, 978-1-60034-888-4). The book blends together a detritus of anecdotes, stories, puns, sermons, quotes, trivia, and illustrations about everyday life, faith, youth, and growing up. Gathered from sources such as public speeches, radio listeners, carpool discussions, road signs, emails, and his one-on-one conversations, O'Bryon's unique collection also provides the reader with a melting pot of biblical applications that run the gamut from laugh-out-loud funny to heartwarmingly poignant.
"My hope is that readers will be entertained, challenged, encouraged, and inspired by the more than 2,000 personal vignettes included," says O'Bryon, "many of them unusual and one-of-a-kind. I believe truth can be effectively communicated through humor and personal experience, and my broad range of experiences has provided me with a fertile collection of good stuff to share."
An engineer by trade, the author has enjoyed a diverse career, which included stints as a university lecturer, radio announcer, musician, mathematician, Pentagon executive, soldier, student, consultant and, most importantly father and husband. As a child, he loved to hear his parents share stories. When he entered Emmaus Bible School, he began jotting down some of these stories on 3x5 index cards, and later as he graduated from The King's College, George Washington University, and MIT, he began storing them on his computer.
Jim O'Bryon is a national defense and security consultant. He and his wife Adina live in Bel Air, Maryland, and have four married children.
