Novel Brings Laughter and Joy Through a Comedy of Mishaps
From pre- to post-Civil War, story highlights GodŐs redemptive power

LONGWOOD, FL-In the years preceding the Civil War, a wife, husband, and their three children move from Pennsylvania to a family plantation in North Carolina. But life there isn't a bed of roses. The wife, Belle, is a very self-righteous Christian woman. According to Belle, she has no faults. She always wants it all and believes she has the right to have it. But the day comes when she hits rock bottom. At the lowest point in her life, she drops to her knees, crying out to God to change her. Josie Sturgeon's My Father's Land (paperback, 978-1-60266-923-9) is an uplifting novel about GodŐs ability to sustain, uphold, and restore those who seek Him, regardless of their many faults.

Says Sturgeon, "I feel that my book will bring laughter and joy through the comedy of mishaps caused by one of the characters who is her own worst enemy until she turns to God. It's the story of God's redemptive power."

Sturgeon's fictional story has been several years in the making. During her experiences as a mother and grandmother, as well as her experiences traveling the country with her husband of 39 years, she fashioned the story from a divine spark of inspiration which aimed to show how God sustains us through His grace, love, and forgiveness.

Josie Sturgeon and her husband have two daughters and six grandchildren. They live in Pasadena, California.
