LONGWOOD, FL-In the last 30 years, more and more evangelicals have been joining the Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox Church and it's not because of the deceptive glitter of beautiful temples. Church history definitely played an important role in their decision. This phenomenon is noteworthy because many of these converts are well-educated former evangelical ministers. Ken Guindon's History Is Not Enough! Why Do Ancient Churches Attract Evangelicals? (paperback, 978-1-60477-006-3) provides a detailed discussion of the two great Christian sacraments-baptism and the Lord's Supper as well as the ancient churches' views concerning salvation, Mary, the saints, and their images.
"My book is a timely expos of the liturgy and the sacramental teachings of the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches in response to recent conversions of a number of evangelicals to these churches," says Guindon.
Guindon was brought up Catholic and attended Catholic schools. Later in life he became a Baptist minister and missionary. Over the years, he came to see that age and claims to infallibility were falsely being used as criteria of the true church. Stemming from the crucible of personal experience, History Is Not Enough! carefully and candidly documents ecclesiastical distinctions long recognized but frequently overlooked.
Ken Guindon and his family moved to France in 1978, where he served as a missionary with the Torchbearer Fellowship and later with Baptist Mid-Missions. He trained catechists in Mexico and spoke and wrote programming for Spanish-language radio in the Los Angeles area. Guindon is retired and lives in Florida.
