LONGWOOD, FL-When a tragic illness shook the Wilcox family to its core, they used prayer to grow closer to God and each other. Their journey, chronicled in Nancy Morgan Wilcox's Fifty-Three Days of Silence: A Journal of God's Grace and Mercy (paperback, 978-1-60266-892-8; hardcover, 978-1-60266-893-5), covers everything from her husband's tragic fall from health to healing, revival, renewal, and love. After reaching out to God, her desperate prayers were answered through a miraculous act of healing. This intriguing journal is a compilation of emails that were written often to Wilcox's family, friends, and prayer warriors of her church so they would know how to pray.
"Readers should see how prayers are answered in the lives of people who pray with all their heart and how a church prayer ministry grew through updated emails and requests," says Wilcox. "I hope they will see a prayer ministry in action. I did. My husband didn't see everything because he was in an unconscious state. He only knew what I told him during those days. But, oh, what a blessing he had-to see God work."
Wilcox credits her strong Christian foundation to the 50 years she spent teaching Sunday school, where she was allowed to learn and grow spiritually, developing multiple skills during those early years. God's ever-increasing call on her life was eventually what prompted her to pen this story, because, as she says, "I never was this serious about writing a book."
Nancy Wilcox taught physical education in Dillon High School for 12 years; science, math, and physical education at Corriher Lipe Junior High School for one year; and fifth grade at Curtis Baptist School for 18 years.
