LONGWOOD, FL-Step into a poet's insight about everyday life in Patricia Jackson Allen's Gifted Moments: A Book of Poetry and Prose ($14.99, paperback, 978-1-60477-124-4), where you will read about topics such as spirituality, family, love, employment, and church life. Some poems will make you laugh, some will make you think seriously, some will stir up memories, and others will leave you encouraged. This unique collection of poetry and prose is like no other. It has something for everyone, and as you read through its pages, you will find it to be a conduit for a closer walk with Jesus.
Says Allen, a single mom and devoted Christian, "Most poetry books have a lot of beautiful words with very little substance. Gifted Moments is down to earth with a life-touching message in each poem or work of prose. Since [my book has] spiritual overtones throughout, several of the poems begin with Scripture as their basis."
As with much of literature today, Allen's life imitates her art. Chronicled in Gifted Moments are some of the challenges and setbacks she endured while living as a single mom. Allen believes these will help people see themselves in her poems and prose and be blessed and encouraged in knowing that throughout her trials and tribulations, God helped her through and strengthened her with His love.
Patricia Jackson Allen was born in Birmingham, Alabama. She currently resides in Altamonte Springs, Florida, and serves as an associate treasurer of the Southeastern Conference of Seventh Day Adventists in nearby Mount Dora.
