Powerful New Novel Reveals Hardships of Spiritual Life on Front Lines
A story about life as a military chaplain in World War II

LONGWOOD, FL-The Chaplain Diaries: WW II-Jack Standridge (paperback, 978-1-60266-724-2) is a new work of historical fiction depicting the unique challenges of life as a military chaplain. History records the atrocities, fierce battles, and extreme sacrifices made by soldiers and civilians involved in World War II, but little has been said about what the dedicated men who served as chaplains on the front lines had to endure-the human pain, the results of human hatred and war, the crises of faith, the strength-sapping hours of service. In The Chaplain Diaries, author R. W. Griffith relates the day-to-day struggles of spiritual leadership in the face of war. He also shares the sacrifices made by chaplains' families back home.

Chaplains often find themselves in situations that test their resolve to minister in hostile situations. Such is the case with Chaplain (Captain) Jack Standridge. Convinced he is a pacifist, he struggles to reconcile his convictions with his calling in a place where he sees the brutality of war-especially when he himself is faced with life or death situations!

R. W. Griffith has been a chaplain assistant in the US Army, where it was his responsibility to protect chaplains during combat operations. He is currently a youth pastor and has served as a consultant with the Department of Defense for Youth Ministry. Griffith has been working in youth ministry for more than 21 years.
