LONGWOOD, FL-For years, Dawn knew there was a God and she believed in Jesus, but her faith was insignificant and ineffective. Then God's Spirit ignited her and she grew in understanding. No sooner did this happen than the attacks started-first within her church and then when her children were kidnapped by the demonic Sobek Ra cult. Following a long chase through the Columbia Gorge from Oregon to Washington, the book culminates at a full-scale replica of Stonehenge-a place where unspeakable things are done. Ray Korban's novel, Anastasis Dunamis: Beyond Demon Belief ($17.99, paperback, 1-60034-811-4), centers on Dawn's desperate search for her children and receiving from God the faith to fight an ancient cult.
Many of the events in the story mimic events that happened in the author's life. Though some are sensationalized for effect, most of what occurs is horrifyingly true. Says Korban, "People pray with the kind of faith of demons-they know there is a God but don't really believe their prayers will be answered. They fill church pews in belief of God, but their lives are indistinguishable from non-believers. We are commanded in Hebrews 6:1 to grow to maturity, and most of us don't. I found myself challenged to mature and pass that challenge on to others."
To grow beyond the faith of demons, Korban says, we must act differently and go beyond the spiritual definitions and boundaries of what we were taught until we are in a relationship with God. Anastasis Dunamis also gives insight into how to read the Bible, understand what it really says, and use Internet sources to understand the original biblical language and its meaning.
Ray Korban has a BA in English and an MBA. He has several years of experience in a variety of enterprises, including as a general contractor.
