LONGWOOD, FL-After Dr. Robert Peprah-Gyamfi made the decision to follow Christ on a faith-filled, lifelong journey in 1978, he received a vision. In the vision, he saw a tableau in which he had the assurance a time would come when he would greet fellow Christians in Europe. That vision sustained him until he fulfilled his goal. He accepted this dream as the Lord's promise for his future and left his native Ghana to embark on a journey to the unknown. What he didn't know then was that the years-long odyssey through struggles and uncertainty-first as a construction worker in Nigeria, then as an asylum seeker in Berlin, and later as a medical student in Germany faced with deportationÑwould lay the foundation for his book Be Encouraged in Jesus ($10.99, paperback, 978-1-60266-085-4). The collection of poems and spiritual shards revolves around two main themes-praise and supplication.
It wasn't always easy for Peprah-Gyamfi to cope with the trials, temptations, and persecution he experienced in his life, but by trusting God through thick and thin, he was delivered from his hurts and sorrows. "[Jesus] has elevated me from status nothing to position something, from a nonentity to an entity, from Mr. Naught to Mr. Top!" says the author. With God's help, Peprah-Gyamfi soldiered on through his daily confrontation with the hard realities of life on what he describes as a "fallen planet." Says the author, "Having experienced the faithfulness of the Lord in my life, I consider myself best suited to speak words of encouragement to other Christians to urge them to keep their heads up and not down as they are battered by the storms of life."
Dr. Robert Peprah-Gyamfi was born in Ghana. In 2006, he moved from Germany to the UK to further pursue his mission of writing and speaking in defense of the Christian faith. He is the founder of Thank You Jesus Ministry, an Internet, radio, and TV ministry.
