Domestic Abuse Victor Pens Book to Help Eradicate Epidemic
Novel targets healing and redemption from strongholds of abuse

LONGWOOD, FL-Most Christians want to think that abuse only occurs in the secular world. But Tresa Smith-Cullins' From Shame to Silence to Solace in the Lord: Claiming Victory Over Abuse! (paperback, 978-1-60266-779-2) is a story not uncommon in the Christian community, although it is rarely discussed for fear of shame, rejection, and disbelief. Tony, the protagonist, grew up with unemployed, alcoholic, and abusive males-his mother's boyfriends. In his adult life, he plays the "Christian game" for many years to get what he wants. He meets Diane at church, and the two marry despite the lack of love between them. Readers will be amazed when they see the turn of events that cause them to hit rock bottom. But there is a balm in Gilead to heal the wounded soul and make the sick whole.

Says Smith-Cullins, "I hope readers will gain the understanding that obstacles, trials, and tribulations will arise in our lives. But we cannot let those things hinder us from the healing and redemption we need to maintain a relationship with the Lord."

A victor over domestic abuse, Smith-Cullins experienced several of the situations in the book for two years. She now works with organizations that strive to eradicate this epidemic and is the founder and director of a non-profit organization for abused teens. Her book depicts how generation after generation can try to hide and protect the wrongs of others. But, says the author, "Redemption comes after healing. Healing comes only after accountability."
