LONGWOOD, FL-Ursula Metz was in the prime of her life, living her dreams as a journalist, wife, and mother, when everything started to change. Within a year of getting married, she was diagnosed with lupus at age 29. One month later, her 31-year-old husband had a stroke. Yet it was through these darkest hours that God motivated her to press forward and win despite the draining twists and turns. In her book The Courage to Continue (paperback, 978-1-60266-282-7), readers will be motivated to laugh, cry, and walk with courage as Metz conveys God's faithfulness in hard times through the story of her health crisis.
The book exposes the danger a severe lack of knowledge about serious, life-threatening diseases can have. A six-year lupus survivor, Metz endured 10 trips to the emergency room and was told by an optometrist that her eyesight was deteriorating. That's when she picked up her pen and started writing The Courage to Continue. She attempts to save lives and bring vital awareness of the disease to the forefront by speaking publicly about lupus and giving free informational seminars. Despite the setbacks she has faced, Metz refuses to let it defeat her. "I am a determined woman who will hold on to my faith in God as I face these serious challenges in my health," says Metz. "I am compassionate about helping others win in life in spite of their respective challenges."
