In Demand Author Continues Self-Publicity Through Deluge of Media Outlets
After participating in an expo sponsored by Praise 104.7 FM radio station in Richmond, Virginia-in which she sold more than 20 books-LaWanda Woods, author of Imprisoned for Preparation, found herself in demand. That exposure led to a newspaper article in Fredericksburg's Free Lance-Star newspaper; three book signings with B. Dalton Bookstores, Borders Bookstores, and Waldenbooks; and a speaking engagement in Williamsburg, Virginia, for a Christian women's conference. "The blessings keep coming!" says Woods. |

Buzz Builds Over University of Mississippi Student's Book
Joshua B. Young holds the distinction of being the first African-American student at University of Mississippi to publish a book. The author of Poetic Thoughts Coming to Fruition says, "After the first article on my book, I contacted the University PR to ask if I was indeed the first African-American student to publish a book on campus. After about two weeks of no response, one of the PR agents contacted me by email and told me the great news." After responding to them, Young was again contacted and asked to participate in a photo shoot for the accompanying article on his book. "I felt like a movie star," Young says. "They took almost 40 shots! The best news of all is they told me this article would be featured in newspapers statewide and in Memphis. This was the best news I've heard all semester."
After the article publicizing Young's book cropped up in his school newspaper, he made a deal with the campus bookstore to carry his book. As soon as he did, the news began to spread. Not long afterward, he spoke with the editor in chief of the Daily Mississippian, who sent a columnist to interview him. The result was a front-page article in the newspaper. |

Book Scales Mountain of Critics to Receive Heapings of Praise
The second book of the Spiritual Summits series, Edward Aponte's The Elementary Summit develops in its audience a Christian worldview and helps them reach new heights. But cynicism isn't the only obstacle it has scaled, as the book recently won praise from Paul McShane of Good News Etc. The laudatory review begins by admitting McShane's skepticism, "but after a few chapters and the exercises that follow[ed] at the end of each one, he had won me over completely_Aponte has used Scripture after Scripture like a climber uses pitons to support his ascent. The scholarship in it makes it very profound as well and can no doubt be traced to the author's theological studies at Cedarville University, Moody Bible Institute, and Bethel College." |
