Xulon Author's Touching Story of Year-Long Deployment in Iraq Moves 1,500 Copies
Xulon author Bart Newman's book, Because of Baghdad: What a Father Would Say About Life if He Didn't Come Home to Say It, which documents the author's reflections during his year-long deployment in Iraq, has been climbing the sales charts due to a recent slew of media appearances and articles-the most notable of which was in the Wall Street Journal law blog. The 32-year-old author, who is currently a real estate lawyer in Atlanta, was quizzed by Dan Slater about his experience in Iraq, his book, and his career. During the interview, the author revealed he has moved 1,500 copies of his book, and that 100% of the profits have been dedicated to children of service members who died in Iraq or Afghanistan. Additionally, Newman spoke to Gracie Bond-Staples of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The article, which ran in February, recounted how Newman's wife, Julie, gifted him with a journal in which to write his thoughts the day he headed for war in Baghdad; how Newman was affected by the stories of his friends'-and fellow soldiers'-deaths; and how he began penning his memoirs for his 18-month-old daughter, Kate, to read should he not come home. The touching story was picked up by other outlets as well, such as Breaking Christian News, and it has affected many people all over the nation, leading to another appearance for the author on Familynet's Every Day with Marcus & Lisa.

Author Receives Critical Acclaim for Story of God's Health Plan
It was every parent's worst nightmare-twelve long years of watching a child suffer through a debilitating undiagnosed illness. But when Xulon author Ricki Pepin found a way to turn her personal pain into a manifold blessing, the rewards were incredible. The author's book, God's Health Plan: The Audacious Journey to a Better Life, has received critical acclaim, and just recently it was reviewed in an issue of the Christian Citizen USA by Pendra Lee. Lee describes her initial trepidation at picking up a copy of the book thus: "My first thought was ÔOh no, another one of those Christian health books that reads well, but is hard to implement.'" But, as fate would have it, "I was wrong. Practical and well documented, all the information one needs to start the 'audacious journey to a better life' is contained in this one book."
