Book Finds Own Publicity Momentum
When author Deborah B. Turner received her first shipment of books, she sent several to well-known ministries. So far she has received requests from two of the ministries requesting a videotape of her sharing her testimony before an audience. One of those was Focus on the Family. Meanwhile, her book Trees Wear Glasses, Don't They? has been selling so well at a Nashville bookstore that sheÕs been invited to attend CBA Advance in January as a guest of the bookstoreÑand do a book-signing while she's in town. An executive with the SC Southern Baptist Association wrote to Turner telling how her book inspired an airplane conversation that resulted in the fellow passenger leaving with her book in hand. Writes Turner, "All of this is happening with me doing very little to promote the book myself. I have had one book signing where we sold 30 books in two hours, and many others who had already purchased the book brought theirs in for signing. Also, I have shared my testimony several times and have four other churches on the calendar in the next couple of months." Kudos to you, Deborah! |

Author Holds Event for Pregnant Hurricane Survivors
Tina M. Ellis, author of Pregnancy = 40 Weeks of Preparation, organized an event called Author for Pregnant Katrina Victims in the fall of 2005. To garner support for the pregnant hurricane survivors, she spoke at the Midwestern Christian Book Fair in Iowa City, Iowa, and also held various book-signing events at which she collected maternity and new baby items for hurricane victims.
Throughout the Bible, God uses the number 40Ñit rained for 40 days and nights during NoahÕs flood, Jesus was tempted for 40 days and fasted for 40 days and nights. The number 40 provides an optimal opportunity to conquer trials and challenges and become more like God, writes Ellis, so why should pregnancy be any different? |
