The Self Publishing Process
|
| By reading through these four simple steps of the production lifecycle for your book, you will familiarize yourself with the overall process for self publishing with Xulon Press. |
| Xulon Press Self Publishing Agreement |
| After selecting your publishing program and submitting both payment and your agreement, you have up to 364 days to submit all of your book's files.
|
| Pre-Production |
| Once you have submitted all of your book files to Xulon Press (your manuscript, back cover copy, bio, graphics, etc.), you will enter the Pre-Production phase, which can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks, although it can go much longer based on book file quality and author response time. Then one of our Pre-Production Coordinators will review and approve these files. Be advised that you may need to revise files to meet the guidelines that are listed on our site here: www.xulonpress.com/print_ready.htm
|
| Production |
| After proceeding into the production phase, which can take 90 days (45 for our Rush service), you will have a beautiful cover specially designed for you and your book text will be formatted according to our specifications. After reviewing your galley (formatted manuscript) and approving, your book will be complete in about two weeks and ready to order.
|
| Post-Production |
| After your book has been sent to the printer, you will receive your free copies ordered (if applicable) in 6-10 days. After receiving these free copies, promotional events can then be scheduled. Additionally, your book will be set up to be orderable by 25,000 bookstores (Premium or Best-Seller program only). Marketing and Internet promotion for your book will also be established (Premium or Best-Seller program only), and if you have ordered the Best-Seller program, your book will also be added to the Xulon online bookstore. At this point, you have the option of purchasing additional marketing add-ons, and you can now order books from one of our Book Sales Representatives.
