Few things can change a life as quickly as a medical diagnosis. Welter was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, but he has refused to let that get him down. He seeks to encourage others faced with difficulty by sharing uplifting positivity in the form of baseball analogies.
“Life’s challenges are not easy, just as baseball isn’t always easy. The game provides many lessons about success and failure, and those lessons can often be applied in our life journeys,” said Welter.
Over a 40-year career in education, David Welter taught social studies and has been involved with baseball at the high school, college and professional levels while also serving as a Jr. High principal for the past sixteen years. He was inducted into the Iowa Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame and was named Iowa's Principal of the Year.
Welter is also the author of Reflections from the Home Team… Go the Distance.
