LONGWOOD, FL--To those around her, Sister Alwinia Heinemann was the "Mother Teresa of Louisville"; her saintliness, dedication, and devotion to others were renowned throughout Kentucky, where she performed many miracles in hospital delivery rooms and improved the overall quality of patient care. But the German-born Sister's story began long before she was performing miracles. In Sherry McDowell's gripping new release from Christian self-publisher Xulon Press, A Farmer's Daughter ($10.99, paperback, 978-1-60477-927-1), the author paints a loving tribute to Sister Alwinia so that others may know her greatness.

Says McDowell, a dear friend of the late Sister, "Readers' souls around the globe have been touched by [my book]. [It] shares the unique life and sacrifices, as well as the joy and heartfelt generosity of Sister Alwinia. To me she was an 'angel' sent from heaven above who made all the difference in my life."

The Louisville, Kentucky-based author says she was raised to value the power of love and the beauty of closeness with God. As such, she is in touch with the spirit world, has witnessed miracles, and has seen God firsthand. When she first crossed paths with Sister Alwinia, she felt convicted to help pen a biography, for hers was a story that exemplified the principles of God's love. "I hope this book will keep her memory alive," the author explains.

Sherry McDowell is the author of numerous poems. This is her first book.
