LONGWOOD, FL-To most people, being "single" is something of a curse in today's society, where the marketplace of marriage acts as one big staging ground for the pairing up of like-minded souls. To those left without a mate, however, Amanda Whisnant has something to say: embrace the blessedness of your singleness by seeking and understanding God's plan for your life and how best to serve Him. Whisnant's book, For Such a Time as This (paperback, 978-1-60266-288-9), challenges Christian singles to discover how God specifically uses singles for His glory.

"I am a 30-year-old single Christian who knows the frustrations and struggles of never having been married," says Whisnant. "But because I have chosen to embrace this season of singleness as a gift and a powerful way to serve Jesus Christ, I have more peace and joy in my life. I know that God has a great purpose in me being single, and because I have stopped worrying and fretting over when or if I get married, I have been able to experience a deeper relationship with God and do things I would not have done were I already married."

Whisnant's five-week Bible study traces true accounts of how God shaped kingdoms, saved and transformed lives, stopped the edicts of pagan kings, and prevented disaster all through unmarried Christians sold out to Christ.

When she's not working on her next novel, Amanda Whisnant is training for her next road race, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, baking her world-class fudge, and serving within the Town Creek Baptist Singles Group. She lives in Aiken, South Carolina.
