MAITLAND, FL— In Richard E. Slagle’s new book, My Journey: Faith The Storms of Life ($12.99, paperback, 978-1-62509-518-3; $6.99, e-book, 978-1-62509-519-0) the overall message can be summarized as: “God will be with you during the storms of your life if you are faithful.” The author backs this message with his unconventional personal experiences—some of which include losing a beloved wife to brain cancer and he, personally, being pronounced dead.

“You must open yourself up to His help,” states the author. “Faith is the doorway for help to enter your life. I have survived massive pain and near death through the grace of God, to a sinner like me. I experienced a taste of God’s love during an eight-day coma when the doctors agreed that I was clinically dead.”

Richard E. Slagle is a native of Knoxville Tennessee, graduate of the University of Tennessee with degrees in biology and chemistry. He was married for almost thirty years to Deborah Elizabeth Insell Slagle until her death from brain cancer. Rick and Debbie worked with foster children, eventually adopting two, Chad and Emily. Rick and Debbie worked with young people in many capacities over the years. Rick is a stroke survivor after an eight-day coma. After the death of Debbie, he felt led to record his journey.
