MAITLAND, FL— Vicky Stewart’s new book, HEIDE
LEARNS ABOUT BULLYING ($17.99, paperback, 9781498401739; $8.99, e-book, 9781498401746) teaches
children what to do when a bully targets them. Heide is a twenty-eight year old, intellectually disabled,
young lady, who is a victim of bullying. She learns to tell someone in
authority, and to pray for the person who is mistreating her. This colorful,
beautifully illustrated book teaches children how to react with kindness
instead of anger, and is a great way to teach children how to open up about the
widespread issue of bullying.
“Heide helps the readers to understand how a person with intellectual disabilities feels and thinks,” states the author. “When she gets bullied, she learns steps to take when someone mistreats her. Her lesson learned from the bullying experience teaches all children what they should do when they are bullied.”
When asked about her credentials in authoring HEIDE LEARNS ABOUT BULLYING, Vicky Stewart shared, “My daughter was born with her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck three times. This caused oxygen deprivation during her development in the womb, and her traumatic birth. She was born with intellectual disabilities, Treacher Collins syndrome, and mild cerebral palsy. Having a ‘Heide’ in my life is a precious gift from God. My daughter has an innocent, joyful, and loving spirit. For thirty-three years, I have witnessed the general public’s reaction to those who are different. I have volunteered with Special Olympics for twelve years, and worked in the public education system with special needs students.”
