MAITLAND, FL— Pastor and author, Doug Malear has gathered photographs of notable church marquees—the catchy phrases on signs—that he has seen while traveling for ministry. In his new book, Signs along the Way: Finding help and hope on the winding road of life through the signs we encounter Along the Way, ($14.99, paperback, 9781498406512; $7.99, e-book, 9781498406529) readers will obtain key Bible verses, useful commentaries, and written sermonettes for daily encouragement. A former heroin addict and drug dealer, Doug shares bits and pieces of his inspiring life testimony throughout the book.

“Life is a journey,” states the author. “Upon that journey, there are many signs along the way in the form of marquees and billboards that give us food for thought, and clear direction when coupled with biblical principals.”

Doug Malear was hooked on heroin for twenty-plus years, spent three years in Jackson Prison, hitchhiked across the country several times, and lived homeless in Detroit's infamous "Cass Corridor in the 1980's for nearly three years. Eventually, the author had a born again experience in Detroit Teen Challenge, worked at West MI Teen Challenge while he attended Bible school, and opened an inner city mission/church in a very needy area in 1996. He has pastored and ministered there from the mid-90s until the present day.
