After serving as a teacher and as an administrator in the public and private sectors of education for over three decades, it seemed only fitting for me to leave a record of my experiences. Creating a sense of community in the classroom was paramount for me. This book is a quick and ready reference for educators who also desire a close, engaging, and positive experience with students in their charge.
For more than three decades, Dr. Patricia Starks Howard has served as a teacher in grades pre-school through high school, as an assistant principal at the middle and elementary school levels, and as an academic advisor at the junior high school level. In 2017, she founded E.A.G.L.E. Educational Services, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to eradicating the achievement gaps that exist in education. She presents the workshop, “I Like Me - Building Self Esteem in Black Students Through Children’s Literature,” at conferences and via the internet. ABC’s for CreatingCommunity in the Classroom, is her first resource book for educators.
