This Christian nonfiction devotional is based on the author’s diary entries as a twelve-year-old girl growing up in the 1980s. Filled with honest looks at faith, self-love, patience, lust, honor, and fitting in, she reveals her story with candid analysis. With the advantage of hindsight, the author looks at what she has learned from her teenage years and applies them to life today as an adult. Along with biblical verses that appropriately reflect each theme, she explains how the problems and pitfalls of being a teenager in the eighties has shaped her life as a Christian woman. God’s love, Christian growth, inspirational Christian book, revelation, personal memoir, Christian autobiography, childhood memoir, spiritual growth.

I am a small town girl from a rural area. I have three biological siblings, two step siblings and was raised in a dysfunctional, divorce rattled family. I asked Jesus into my heart at age seven, during a catholic catechism class, and experienced first communion afterwards. The event of my mother’s remarriage and moving when I was eight changed our denomination once again, from Wesleyan Methodist to Catholic to Methodist. Through the years, I have experienced beautiful worship and Holy-Scripture messages in various denominations. I also seek God’s ways through His Word, and with praise and worship of His Name.
I received my first diary six months after my twelfth birthday, on Christmas, December 1981. I began writing in it on January 12th 1982. This first diary devotional covers only six months, January to July 1982. The diary itself is overwhelmingly heathen in attitude, by my accounts, even after a sincere seven year olds public request for Jesus.
This diary devotional depicts truthful aspects of how the world’s influences and the choices of mankind lead to sinful ways. The reader is cautioned about the heathen attitudes expressed through myself, in my young writer’s diary. I would like to offer hope that renewal of my attitude began to occur more sooner than later, though the distractions I would put in place to fill my empty spaces also took over empty diary pages, and life beyond what was written.
My prayer is that readers would continue in an attitude of hope and prayer themselves, for renewal in life and thinking, as they read through this devotional.
