Like the proverbial phoenix rising from the ashes, Andrew Morris rose from a life of ongoing adversity to that of using his knowledge of youthful suffering to help young people.  Living in his car then in a shelter and his struggles to achieve ongoing employment were valuable steps which led to his creation of supportive, life affirming programs for the youth in his community.  While living in the shelter, in 2008, he envisioned building a youth center to be called Raising The Bridge.
Inspiring is the key word describing Andrew Morris’ book, The Ladder.  His existence of want and sacrifice is one which tells the story of a man from a young age who spent years just trying to survive and had no focus and no idea of what to do with his life.  Then in a magic moment he came to know that he wanted to dedicate his future to helping young people who were in great need of many kinds of support.  He found that to do so he would have to educate not only the youth but their parents as well.  After two failed marriages, Andrew found the perfect loving partner in his wife, Nicole, and they established the Raising The Bridge non-profit youth organization.  They have been responsible for providing guidance for young people ages twelve to eighteen within their community of Mesquite, Texas located a dozen miles outside of Dallas.
In The Ladder, Andrew outlines the battles and successes he’s lived through in his personal life, in providing for his own children, and in doing all he can within Raising The Bridge to meet the emotional, physical, educational, and spiritual needs of his home town youth.
