Far too many of us fail to understand the power of our words, whether we speak them as parents, spouses, friends, bosses, or political and spiritual leaders. So as Jesus utters “it is finished” what is He telling us about Himself, His mission and His amazing love for us? What He said was not a shout of defeat, but a declaration of eternal victory over the devil, his minions and the wages of sin. His life was not taken from Him, it was lovingly given up for every soul throughout time that would come to know Him as their Lord and Savior. Throughout this book I have attempted to remind all of us about all that Jesus has done for us. The plan of salvation and reconciliation with God is now complete. The doorway to forgiveness of sins, spiritual healing and power for living is now open to all who will believe. “It is finished”.

Doctor Baker is an unwavering advocate for unity in the body of Christ. In his 34 years of pastoral ministry and 22 years of of involvement in Christian education he has never seen a more confusing array of ideas being promoted by some about who Jesus Christ really is or what He was able to accomplish for each of us on the cross of Calvary. God so loved the world, the Holy Spirit was willing to be at work but it was Jesus the Christ who gave Himself as the lamb of God for each of us. The cornerstone of my life and ministry has always been John 13:35, “By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another”. That is the door that was opened and the ministry that Jesus started when He said “It is finished”. Doctor Baker is also the author of, “What Should We Do Now”.
