What does the phrase sword to lord mean?
Our loving Father in heaven knows us thoroughly and completely. In fact, He knows us so well that He patiently, painstakingly, strategically, and masterfully laid out the plan for the sword to be used as a symbolic image for people. I firmly believe that this was done on purpose, solely for us, and specifically because He knows us. He knows what we are like and knows our sinful nature.
Sword to Lord examines and explains twenty-eight instances of the symbol of the sword and what each represents in its Old Testament context. Biblically and historically, the sword enabled, for example, conquering one’s enemies and deliverance from captivity. But how does that relate to the second part of the title?
Does the cross enable a believer to conquer his or her enemies? Does the cross provide a believer with deliverance? John has retired from two distinguished careers: an USAF Military Officer and a successful business executive.
