Join first-time author Brenda Gerland and some of her friends as they share stories of everyday joys, trials, thoughts and experiences. Read words of encouragement from other sisters in Christ, finding hope and assurance that God is present in all circumstances. Women in all seasons of life will be able to identify with these real stories of triumph and tragedy—some that will make the reader laugh and others that are downright heartbreaking.
Coincidentally, the three-year period spent writing and compiling this devotional just happened to fall smack dab in the middle of a severe drought in the Texas Hill Country. Water—or the lack of it—became the topic of many stories. It also became an obsession. Craving rain more than Jesus can only lead to a spiritual drought as well. God takes Brenda on a slow dance through her own dry, parched wilderness and brings restoration to her hardened heart.
When we walk with Jesus, when we allow His springs of living water to quench our thirst and the longings of our soul, then we will find true joy. There still might not be any water in the lake or there could be a flood of heavenly rain; either way, there is joy in the journey, just as there is joy and hope in the pages of this devotional as God is glorified daily.
Brenda Gerland is a native Texan, currently living on Lake Travis in Austin, with her husband and golden retriever. Enjoying the empty nest, and the retired life, Brenda has spent the past few years writing and compiling Dancing in the Drought. Visiting with other women and mentoring “younger” girls is her other passion. She is also a small- group Bible study leader at her church.
