Dixie's story is about a fifteen-year-old runaway who is innocent prey for the devil's clutches. He wraps his slimy tentacles around her and pulls her into a hellish world of drug addiction. The devil's tentacles are long and far-reaching slithering into a home and ripping apart a once loving family.
The Lord doesn't sit idly by and let the devil steal one of his innocent children. He guides Dixie to a crossroad where she has a choice to make; sin and drugs or the road less taken; salvation and recovery.
I was born and lived in a small Colorado town with my dad, mom, older sister and two older brothers.
Being the youngest, I spent most of my time at home with my mom and grandpa, Sam, who stayed at our house during the day. He played many musical instruments, but his favorite and mine was the banjo. It was from him I am told that I developed my love of music. In addition to music, I love to sing, read, act in community theater, write stories, and learn new things.
From an early age, I wanted to be a teacher. My fifty- year teaching career began at the age of nineteen. My preferred teaching field was foreign Languages.
My husband, Michael and I celebrated fifty years of marriage in 2022 before he passed away. We had no children, but several dogs throughout the years; all named Beauregarde because Mike couldn’t remember their names. I now have Chotsy, and Ivy.
My material for this story came from my teaching career. I witnessed students struggling with addiction or suffering with grief as a family fell into the drug pit.
I hope this story inspires other young people to be strong and avoid addictive drugs.
