There are many things in life that make us feel delighted. We can take delight in reading a good book, or eating a delicious meal, or watching our children play, or taking an evening walk with a loved one.
How many Christians today whole-heartedly delight in spending time with the Lord? Those who truly enjoy being in the presence of God, desiring nothing more than to spend time with Him in prayer, submerging in the study and meditation of His Word, and then learning to live in obedience to it.
As good Christians, we make sure we go to church every Sunday out of duty. We practice good stewardship out of duty. We pray out of duty. We may even attend a weekly Bible study out of duty. As a result, we get so caught up in fulfilling our obligations as Christians that we can lose sight of the joy that Jesus can bring to our lives each and every day.
Jesus said in John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” God wants each of us to have this abundant life. This life is not wrapped up in worldly things, but rooted and grounded in Christ Jesus and joyfully living in obedience to His word.
The question to you is: Are you truly enjoying Jesus yet?
