Two thousand years ago, Jesus used common objects in parables to help his followers understand the spiritual concepts he was teaching. Today’s world is replete with objects to illuminate the truths of God’s word. From one analogic essay, ideas began to flow until one hundred ideas evolved into a book. Vivid Brushstrokes simply takes the bold colors of truth from God’s word and applies them to everyday life. Vivid Brushstokes II is simply an extension of those same precepts.

Dennis Borden grew up in the small farming town of Monroe City, Missouri. As the eldest child of three, he learned the value of hard work from laboring on a family farm and working at home. He enjoyed a strong family bond that included exposure to church as a toddler and later a conversion experience while in college.
His interest in writing developed while earning a degree in English at Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky. Borden later obtained a diploma in Biblical Studies from the Liberty Home Bible Institute. In 2010, he completed a Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.
His writing background includes producing sports stories and features for a daily newspaper, The Times Tribune; contributing to a family magazine called Southeastern Kentucky Family and a Christian newspaper, Christian Life.
As a student of the scriptures, Borden has taught the Bible for over twenty five years. This experience prepared him to relate the many truths of scripture and life, which is the primary focus of Vivid Brushstrokes. Mr. Borden is married to his wife Sandra, has two children and two grandchildren, and lives in Huntsville, Alabama, where he works at Drake State Technical School.
