In this fourth and final volume of Terry’s series of Brown Skin poetry books, the author takes a penetrating look at the times we’re living in, spiritually, politically, culturally, and in numerous other ways. In continuing to celebrate the hope of a life in Christ, he nonetheless chronicles the darkness and disconnections he sees in the current age. The result is a bold and resounding poetic essay that continues the dynamic path established in his first three collections of verse.

Brown Skin and the Burden of Proof: A Poet’s Revelation, is just that...a revelation of what it means to be a Christian witness, a griot, and a truth-teller in contemporary America. As in his prior work, Terry’s skill and dexterity with all idioms of poetic expression is evident from start to finish. In Burden of Proof, it’s once again clear that a literary craftsman is at work.

Of this volume, the author himself says, “I really only planned to write three books in this poetic series... However, the past few years made it clear that there was more to say about the road I’d been traveling. This volume represents so much that I’ve learned and so much that I’m still puzzled about in our contemporary society. I hope I make this clear on the pages inside.”
