Did God really create Satan? Can Ezekiel 28:12–15 and Isaiah 14:12 be quoted as biblical proof thereof? Or is the concept of Satan the brainchild of man, derived from a religion foreign to that of the Jews of the Old Testament? Is the usage of the name "Lucifer" in certain Bibles the result of a "mistake" made by St. Jerome in translating the Bible into Latin, four centuries after Jesus Christ? How did Jesus perceive this phenomenon? Did He regard or recognize Satan as an extra-terrestrial being, or did He merely use the terminology of His time to indicate disbelief in Himself and His message of salvation? Did Jesus blame Satan as the cause of certain situations? As a cure for physical defects and illnesses, did Jesus always exorcise a devil or some vile spirit? Or did He resort to exorcism only in the healing of the mentally deranged and epileptics?
What was the effect of biblical misinterpretations and St. Jerome's "mistake" in translation on Christianity? Did it create unbiblical concepts and practices not in accordance with Christology?
These are some of the historical facts and pertinent, fundamental questions with which the author confronts the Church and the Christian.
In defense of Christology, this book is a must for all Christians and those who believe that God created Lucifer, alias Satan, a fallen angel.

Carel Bakkes has a B.A. degree in social sciences, majoring in psychology and sociology. He obtained the degree of LL.B. and was involved in law for almost thirty-eight years. Although he always took a keen interest in historic matters, it was only after having initiated studies in theology through the University of South Africa that he made an in-depth study of the Bible and ancient biblical history, investigating the origin of the concept of Satan and the devil. This is the author's first book and probably the first comprehensive document ever written on the subject.
