This book was written to stress the important place that education has in every culture. The origination, development, and preservation of religious life and culture have often depended directly on the successful contributions that Christian education has made.
This book also stresses the importance of quality in Christian educational efforts. It is evident that most systems of Christian education have been influenced and even patterned after those of secular education.
The writer believes that there are definite distinctives prevalent in good Christian education that are specifically different and superior to other forms of education. This is particularly true where efforts are made to integrate the Christian faith into an academic program. Some suggestions on how to do this are made in this book.
DR. H. W. BYRNE has had wide experience in the field of Christian education. He holds his A.B. degree from Asbury College, Wilmore, Kentucky; his B.D. degree from Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, Kentucky; his M.S. degree in Education from Western Illinois University; and his Ed.D. degree from Bradley University. He has served as Chairman of the Division of Christian Education at Asbury and Dean of Education at Fort Wayne Bible College and Huntington College. In addition to his experience in Christian education, he has served as pastor of local churches in Kentucky, Alabama, and Illinois. He has been devoted to the development of his important skills in the field of Christian education and to understanding the broad scope of problems in the field of general education. He has ministered to lay people in local churches all across America and other countries.
