Holy Donuts is a practical, legal way of getting into the schools and building rapport with the kids! If we want to see members of this younger generation experience a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ and become productive and influential members of society with a biblical worldview, we must go to them!
A session of Holy Donuts begins when each of the kids comes in, grabs a donut, and takes a seat. By using visual object lessons, the kids are able to grasp and apply the principles of the Gospel. Discussion follows, and ways they can use their faith are stressed. Sessions are short, allowing time for more than one group to participate on a given day. The concept is applicable to all grade levels. Holy Donuts: Impacting Schools for Christ gives you all the information you need to start your own outreach.
GRABLE E. SZABO is an ordained minister who for the past eight years has served on the ministerial team of Word of Life International Church in Pendleton, Oregon. Following the Columbine disaster, she began to look for a way to reach kids who are not in church. The answer came through "Holy Donuts," a highly successful outreach to the local middle school. Realizing that the concept could be adapted for use at any grade level, she has written a "how to" book entitled Holy Donuts: Impacting Schools for Christ.
Grable also works full-time as a correctional officer for the Department of Corrections in Pendleton. Prior to settling in Oregon, she spent seven years in the United States Air Force. After completing her tour of duty, she ministered as the intake supervisor for World Challenge in Sacramento, California, where she oversaw the individualized treatment of women with drug and alcohol addictions.
