Growing Up Westhoff Style is an introduction to small-town, Texas living by an active little girl, Rhonda, born to young parents, Otto Lee & Phyllis Koenning in late 1959. The story moves from the Koenning’s marriage day, through the positives and negatives, the good and the bad, the heart-happy to heart-breaking times of the early 1960’s through 1973 as seen through Rhonda’s eyes. She paints the picture of family values, good and honest hard-working people, close community and valuable relationships, all the while growing up an only child with a sweet, beautiful mother who becomes very sick and dies from Cancer.  It does “take a village to raise a child” or in this case the classmates, family, friends and neighbors of rural Westhoff, Texas helping Rhonda succeed at this hard period in her life.
While reading the story, enjoy some great photos from this time and feel the blessings surrounding Rhonda and her life ending each chapter with select Bible quotations.
Growing Up Westhoff Style has a little bit of wonderment & intrigue and might spark a long-forgotten memory of your own childhood experiences! ENJOY!
