Vessels of Gold and Clay by Mark Southern is a powerful collection of poetry that reveals the reality of a life dedicated to following Christ, with all of the love, loss, and lessons this exciting journey with God entails. While the book is written in poetry format, the poems tell stories–true stories from both Mark’s life and the lives of others. Each writing will inspire, challenge, and encourage you, as Mark’s words call you to take a look at your faith and discover how you can walk even more in line with the Word and the will of God.
Mark Southern’s spiritual journey began in 1977, at the age of fourteen, when he learned that the Salvation Army had a band that he, as a trumpet player, wanted to join. That led him to discovering the truth and love of Christ, and he became a Christian. His faith has grown since that time, and it has been an adventure of ups and downs. In 1994, God spoke to him, asking him if he knew where he would go if he died that night. It was a moment that would change the course of his life forever. His writing in this book is inspired by the Holy Spirit. Mark resides in a small suburb in Tasmania, an island under the mainland of Australia.
