LONGWOOD, FL--Based on a true story, author Digna Gonzalez's The Shadow of the Scorned ($17.99, paperback, 978-1-60647-912-4; $27.99, hardcover, 978-1-60647-913-1) tells the tale of Olivia, a child born as a product of her mother's rape at 15 years of age. Olivia grows up in unbelievable poverty, surrounded by sexual, physical, and verbal abuse. But nothing stops this little girl from dreaming big dreams and becoming exactly what she desires. This is her amazing journey under the most difficult and unimaginable circumstances and her resolve to overcome all.

Says Gonzalez, "Sexual abuse, as well physical and verbal abuse, has been part of our sick society everywhere in the world, especially for children. Domestic violence is in the news in every city every day. I know; I was a also a victim as an adult too. This is a problem that has to be addressed and solutions can be presented for the cycle to be broken. Not only women have been affected, but men as well. I can show and inspire others to overcome anything in their lives."

When Gonzalez met her Savior at the age of 28, all the broken pieces of her shattered life came together. A former victim of sexual abuse and physical torture, the knowledge of Jesus Christ taught her how to forgive others. Now the author spends her time maintaining her website, Inspiraciones.net, a website to inspire and motivate others to dream big and never give up, and writing both poetry and prose. "There is nothing impossible when you persevere to keep your dreams alive," the author says.
