2007-06-29

LONGWOOD, FL-For Christians, the issues of illegal immigration and border security pose a crisis of conscience. How can we follow the Golden Rule while enforcing laws and policies that address the concerns of national security in a post-9/11 world? The Borders of Faith-Illegal Immigration, Illegitimate Citizenship, and Border Security (paperback, 978-1-60266-382-4; hardcover, 978-1-60266-383-1) examines the intersection of Christianity and illegal immigration, illegitimate citizenship, and border security.

Since the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Americans have struggled to find a balance between national security and civil rights-preserving individual freedoms while allowing the government to take the necessary steps to keep America safe. In this authoritative new book, practicing immigration attorney Marc M. Harrold takes a look at this pressing and divisive issue. "I seek to examine this crisis in new ways to find solutions that are humane and Christ-reflective but that also address realistic concerns involving national security, cultural preservation, and adherence to the rule of law," states Harrold. "As a Christian attorney, law professor, civil rights advocate and former police officer, I invite readers to examine the many facets of this issue and craft their own borders of faith."

Marc M. Harrold is a visiting professor of law and practicing immigration attorney. A former city of Atlanta police officer, he trains law enforcement officers and attorneys across the country on matters of criminal procedure. He has been published in law journals, magazines, and newspapers and is a frequent contributing columnist for the Clarion Ledger newspaper. He is the author of a book of original poetry, a book of legal nonfiction related to the First Amendment, and coauthor of Mississippi Criminal Trial Practice. He lives in Union County, Mississippi.
