LONGWOOD, FL--Within the pages of author Richard Peltier's new Xulon Press release, A Symposium of Christian Beliefs ($15.99, paperback, 978-1-60957-552-6), is a compilation of the beliefs that premier theologians and biblical scholars arrived at after years of study and reflection on Scripture and apocryphal literature. Most people will find the results contained herein fascinating and a boon to a new understanding of Scripture and Christian doctrine. The aim of the scholars quoted is not to discredit ancient Christian beliefs, but to explain how and on what basis they were arrived at by their authors.

"This book is a compilation of conclusions reached by imminent scholars after years of study and analysis," the author explains. "In their quest for truth, no beliefs, however sacrosanct, were exempt from their review and analysis. Perhaps Bishop John Shelby Spong set the pace when he said, 'The theological seminary in which I was trained had as its motto "Seek the truth come whence it may, cost what it will."' We are blessed to be living in a period when vast and bold changes are taking place in Christian thinking and biblical interpretation."

Peltier, a resident of Sayville, New York, says that the main conflict stems from two different ways of seeing Christianity as a whole. There are millions of Christians who embrace a new way of seeing Christianity, while millions of others defend "traditional" Christianity as the only legitimate way of being a Christian. It is his hope that this conflict and deep division will be assuaged once Christians read of his findings in this book.
