MAITLAND, FL— In Hans G. Rolfes’s new book, Home, Heaven and Hitler’s Hell: Tales of Boyhood and Mysticism in Germany ($27.99, paperback, 978-1-62697-082-3; $38.99, hardcover, 978-1-62697-083-0; $9.99, e-book, 978-1-62697-084-7) relates how 105 Marian Apparitions in a nearby town—occurrences so good, so pure, so hard-to-explain still—happened near incredible evil. Said best by the author, “This memoir documents how the miraculous can mingle with everyday life.”

“This epic story, incredible as it is, remains unknown in the United States,” states the author. “Because of the hush-up and secrecy imposed by Hitler’s regime, the veil of silence surrounding the miracles in Heede was lifted only fairly recently, with its official recognition as a “‘Marian Prayer Site.’”

Hans G. Rolfes is a retired professional engineer who lives in Westchester, N.Y. He was a senior consultant for General Foods for a quarter century. This new book, “Home, Heaven and Hitler’s Hell,” grew out of his many unusual experiences at a young age. One experience in particular intrigued him because the Nazi government used every means to suppress it: the 1937 Marian Apparitions in Heede, a village about twenty miles from his home. While in Germany in the early 2000s, his brother and sister-in-law took him to Heede, and in 2004 he had the opportunity to meet several authorities and study first-hand material. He has visited and studied at the apparition site in Heede, Germany many times.
