MAITLAND, FL— William P. Broughton’s new book,
Teach
Us to Pray: A Layman's Primer on Prayer ($16.99, paperback, 978-1-62697-217-9; $8.99, e-book, 978-1-62697-218-6) explains to the reader how to
pray using various examples of prayer prepared by the great saints in history
and present experts in the practice of prayer. The author provides suggestions
to assist in his or her prayer life, which are based on references to Scripture.
“The book comes at a time when prayer is a neglected practice in parts of the Christian church,” states the author. “A study has revealed that many pastors spend less than five minutes a day in prayer. The layman, no doubt, will spend even less if any time at all in prayer. There is a need, therefore, to study books on prayer to improve this situation in our lives.”
William P. Broughton received his B.A. from Concordia University in Montreal Canada, his M.Div. from McMaster Divinity College in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and his D.Min. from Trinity Seminary in Newburgh Indiana. He is a retired pastor in the United Church of Canada. He is also the author of the book titled “The Historical Development of Legal Apologetics.”
