MAITLAND, FL— The new book by Terry E. Carter, Brown Skin and the Beautiful Faith: A Poet's Reflection, ($14.99, paperback, 9781629524740; $7.99, e-book, 9781629524757) is a compilation of poems inspired by things near and dear to the poet’s heart. Terry E. Carter has been writing and developing his craft for decades. He is a classically trained poet whose literary influences range from Shakespeare to the Harlem Renaissance. His life influences include: family, race, education, and a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

“‘Brown Skin’ portrays contemporary African-Americans as heroes, role models, and people of integrity, intelligence and invention, despite the trials that they may face and the obstacles in their way,” states the author. “The book demonstrates that walking in a Christian lifestyle is not lacking in fun, cultural diversity, artistic creativity, or modern sensibilities.”

Terry E. Carter graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Fisk University with a Bachelor’s degree in English. He also completed a graduate fellowship in mass communications at Boston University. He is a seasoned corporate trainer and has worked for many years in the sales, HR, and career development fields. He currently directs elder services for a community center in his hometown of West Medford, MA.
