MAITLAND, FL—Most Christians wish to share their faith, but
many feel ill-equipped for this complicated and often daunting task because
they don’t have a user-friendly model to guide them in the process.
Within the pages of Strategic
Evangelism: Theory and Practice of
Personal Evangelism ($22.99, paperback, 9781498466349; $9.99, e-book,
9781498466356), J. Stephen Parker teaches Christians how to conduct evangelism
in an assertive and compassionate manner.
“It’s a comprehensive, user-friendly training manual on how
to present and share the gospel and Christian faith in a compassionate and
sophisticated manner,” the author and clinical psychologist states. “Readers
will acquire a theoretical framework for personal evangelism along with a multitude
of strategies and techniques to be effective spiritual change agents.”
Strategic Evangelism
will equip Christians with a host of skills and strategies to be more confident
and effective at one-on-one evangelism. The book covers how to conduct a spiritual
assessment; positive communication and persuasion techniques; motivational
strategies for spiritual resistance; how to give your testimony; three
approaches for sharing the gospel; how to facilitate a commitment to Christ;
the major teachings of Jesus, theistic and Christian apologetics; and brief
versus longer-term evangelism.
“The book includes hypothetical dialogues between an
evangelist and a non-Christian, so the reader will know how to employ the
strategies in different situations,” Parker says. “Spiritual resistance and
apathy are addressed head on. Given the growing number of nonbelievers who are
hostile or indifferent towards the Christian faith, the book offers creative
ways to deal with this common obstacle to faith.”
J. Stephen Parker is a clinical psychologist and

been sharing the love of Jesus with as many people as possible. He has taught
adult and children’s Sunday School classes, and participated in short-term
missions, prison evangelism, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs.
Parker and his wife were house parents for troubled teenagers for a year with a
