LONGWOOD, FL--Many Christians today are not walking in the victory Jesus purchased for them at the cross. But in order to seek a more intimate relationship with God, they must seek to remove any obstacles in their spiritual walk. Using the basic steps outlined in James 4:7-8, author Ginger Schievelbein guides readers through the process of healing and deliverance in her new Xulon Press release, Come Near to God: A Personal Ministry and Self-Deliverance Workbook ($25.99, paperback, 978-1-61579-443-0). This book is designed for individual or group study and will teach readers how to have more of God and less of themselves as they come near to Him. It also teaches them how to learn His will for their lives.

"Come Near to God is designed to help the reader experience God's unconditional love, resulting in a deeper, more intimate relationship with Him," the author says. "[It] will help the readers get set free from obstacles that are hindering their spiritual walk with Jesus."

An ordained minister and first-time author, Schievelbein grew up in a typical Christian home. At the age of 15, she encountered God and received the gift of discernment of spirits--a gift she kept secret for ten years due to her not fully understanding it. Gradually, she began to share some of her spiritual experiences with the adults and children in her ministry. Ten years later, God asked her to step down from those responsibilities so He could send more people to her for personal prayer and deliverance. Now, in Come Near to God, she uses her gifts and her ten years of experience in deliverance and healing ministry to expand and emphasize the truth of how to come near to God.
