Author Diane Vanhorne shares her memoir in The Letter: A Medical Doctor’s Remarkable Journey of Enduring Hope ($15.49, paperback, $7.99, 9781631298318; e-book, 9781631298332).

The Letter tells the story of a young girl who felt that whoever came up with the idea of school needed to be friendless, an attitude supported by a family who did not relish the idea of continuing education past middle school nor had any interest in putting a dime towards any additional educational endeavors. One day, however, this young girl wrote a letter which brought her not only to the end of the world but almost to the end of herself.

The Letter will remind its reader that hope is rewarding, love is always right, hard work gives results, suffering is not for nothing, and in it all, our Creator is gently wooing. Through her story, this young girl, now a medical doctor, encourages her readers to never give up and do the right thing, even when others say you won’t succeed. Win or lose, choose to stand.

Dr. Vanhorne pursued a second language and a medical doctor degree in Mexico and later moved to the US to do her residency training in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Florida. She is certified by the Board of Medicine in both areas and is fluent in Spanish.
