Author Rev Dr Alan D Ryan aims to reinforce the importance of worshiping together in church in The Blessing of Church: How Attending Church Can Change Your Life for the Better ($12.49, paperback, 9781662870255; $23.49, hardcover, 9781662871849; $5.99, e-book, 9781662870262).

Rev Ryan’s collection of inspiring real-life stories clearly demonstrate how churchgoers were blessed, beyond their expectations, while at and in church. He reminds readers that attending church allows each person to physically enjoy the continuous reminder and affirmation that God is real and that He hears prayers and can answer them. Rev Ryan wants all to fully understand that the simple act of visiting the church can help one to thrive in life and experience the love, hope, comfort, friendship, counsel and wisdom God has planned for life. Through thought-provoking stories, the author hopes this book will be recommended by readers to other readers, as a way of encouraging all to attend church in person regularly.

“Studies have shown that those who participate in religious services at least once a week are more optimistic and have lower rates of depression, and are less likely to commit suicide than those who don’t. And these effects aren’t slight. One large-scale study of U.S. women found that those who attended religious services at least once a week were five-times less likely to kill themselves than those who never attended.” (A new study by Harvard) The benefits of attending church are abundantly documented in this book.

“As a child I grew up in a home where we did not regularly attend church,” said Rev Ryan. “However, as I grew older, attending church became a regular part of my life and it blessed me and my family very far beyond what I could have ever imagined. Therefore this book was written because I want others to enjoy similar blessings.”

As Rev Ryan grew into adulthood, attending church became a regular part of his life. This experience blessed both him and his family very far beyond what he could have ever imagined. By God’s grace, he and his wife have been married for more than thirty years. They have two young adult children who are still actively practicing their faith.

Rev Ryan has been blessed to complete seminary three times including two master’s degrees from Luther Rice and a Doctorate in Educational Ministries from Dallas Theological Seminary. Over his lifetime, he was blessed to be discipled by Deacons, Thurmond Woodard and Dr. Roosevelt Thomas, pastored by Rev Dr. William V. Guy and both pastored and discipled by Rev. Dr. Frank Lewis. To these men, Rev Ryan says that he owes a debt that he could never repay.

Rev Ryan enjoys spending time with family and friends, eating out, listening to music, playing golf and traveling. For more information about the author, his book or ministry, visit www.thrivetodayministries.org.
