Author Johnny Lang gives Elvis Presley fans a real treat, untold stories of Elvis, in My Army Days with Elvis: Friendship, Football & Follies ($13.49, paperback, 9781662868689; $21.99, hardcover, 9781662872242; $5.99, e-book, 9781662868696; Audiobook, 9781662872259).

Stories dating back to more than 60 years ago, Langs book chronicles, with great humor and affection, the friendship between two United States Army Inductees in Bad Nauheim Germany from 1958-1960. One young man was the author and the other, Elvis Presley. Heartwarming stories follow Elvis and Lang while overseas, as the pair experienced more hijinks than most servicemen could have been exposed to.

Jeffrey Lang, the author’s son explains, “Since my childhood, these cherished stories have been woven into the fabric of my family's lore. My father, 87 at the time of this publishing, was delighted to share the humor, humanity, and great-natured character that embodied Elvis Presley with the rest of the world.”

This book is sure to be a treasured favorite among Elvis fans or any reader who wants to learn more about what Elvis was really like.

When asked what inspired the author to write this book, it was said, “Mr. Lang was inspired to write this book after numerous visits to Las Vegas and Memphis where he was delighted to meet some remaining members of the 'Memphis Mafia' and interact with Elvis Fan Club Officials and fans all over the world.”

After his discharge in 1960, Johnny Lang left the United States Army with 2 years of honorable service and returned to his job as a steel worker for Jones and Laughlin Steel in Warren, Michigan. He also returned with countless memories of befriending the King of Rock & Roll and his cohorts. Married, in 1963, Lang went on to have 5 children and 9 grandchildren. He currently resides in metro Detroit where he often reflects on that time period among family, friends and legions of Elvis fans with great fondness. Lang, at age 86, still keeps busy by working at a local machine shop and reading his favorite autobiographies. He enjoys visits to his favorite local neighborhood honkey-tonk establishment, The Alibi Inn, where rock and roll is still played along with dancing.
