Author Jacqueline Wray-Johnson shares her emotional testimony with readers in The Queen of Façade: Unrooting the Hidden Secrets of a Church Girl ($15.49, paperback, 9781662841293; $6.99, e-book, 9781662841309).
Wray-Johnson’s memoir is a life account of intrigue, deception and treachery. It’s a testimony depicting the journey of how one lie, influenced a lifestyle and a lifetime. She explains how the curtain of religion provided the best of excuses under which to shield the reality of the hell she endured. Hidden and heavily guarded truths that seemed to bear the penalty of a death sentence by those Wray-Johnson loved the most, kept her vocally shackled for over three decades.
Wray-Johnson courageously shares her story of living with those lies that resulted in her lost self-worth and mental degradation. Does she cherish the hurt and take revenge? Does she forgive in order to heal and be restored? And most importantly, how does she escape the psychological entrapment, marital imprisonment and religious barriers? Readers will appreciate the raw emotion in this book and the author’s ultimate survival and how she got out and got over through the mercies of God.
When asked what inspired the author to write this book, Johnson said, “To be able to live the truth irrespective of who is offended. My sister Marcia is an advocate of embracing oneself and living truthful and allowing the truth to set you free. She is my greatest inspiration.”
Jacqueline Wray-Johnson is a professionally trained College Lecturer. She is also a poet and a writer who has self-published children’s books, written literature, and authored the book, Virtue in Love and Affliction. She enjoys wetting the palate of friends and family with her exceptionally delicious meals. Also, a comedian at heart, Wray-Johnson is a naturally talented choreographer of liturgical performances. A very entertaining MC, she works with locals to build their confidence through choral speeches and skits. Counseling sessions have resulted since writing this book. Many have requested prayer from her for marriages, and family matters of the heart. Wray-Johnson also enjoys sports, reading, and travelling in addition to playing board games like Scrabble and Monopoly.
