Author Judith T. Newman, M.D. shares her personal memoir to inspire others to make a difference in the world in The Charmed Life of an Ordinary Woman ($15.99, paperback, 9781662844393; $9.99, e-book, 9781662850523).
Judith T. Newman, M.D. has been described as petite in stature but a force to be reckoned with when it comes to her passion and career as a pediatric ophthalmologist. It’s not surprising that she has accomplished 130 overseas ophthalmic missions in 12 different developing countries including Africa, Communist China, India, Nepal, Tibet, South-East Asia, Central America and more. She is credited for performing eye surgeries on children, some blind and others disfigured before surgery, yielding thankful smiles from patients after surgery. Her story is one that demonstrates the importance of wanting to improve healthcare in underprivileged countries while promoting world peace.
“The events unfold in such an easy-to-follow manner; I felt like I was watching it all occur. Also, the Lessons Learned from her hosts, add greatly to a vivid and informative narrative, especially for anyone interested in doing medical missions abroad,” said Ogugua Okonkwo (OG), M.D., FRCS, FWACS, FASRS, MSFT, Lagos, Nigeria
Judith T. Newman, M.D. is a retired pediatric ophthalmologist, living in Helotes, TX, with her husband, Philip Krueger, a retired engineer, who swims competitively and restores vintage British sports cars.
