Author Traces Quest to Discover Identity of Birth Father in New Book

Touching story empathizes with readers who are coping with the same plight

LONGWOOD, FL--For many years, Xulon author Donald E. Kersemeier wondered about the identity of his biological father. Although at first he thought he might never know for sure in this life, he worked with a lab director to analyze a collection of envelopes and stamps that had crossed an ocean and been stored in a box for 60 years. The results of the analysis--revealed to him in May of 2001--forever changed his life. In BeQuest: A Fifty Year Journey to Find a Birth Father ($18.99, paperback, 978-1-60957-418-5), the author relates the story of his quest to discover the identity of his birth father. The story is at once universal and personal--and the author is confident it will resonate with readers who are in the same position as he was many years ago.

"The book shares a life experience that is shared by thousands of others who are struggling with the need to learn the identity of one or both birth parents," he says. "The book both empathizes with those coping with their plight, and, I would trust, creates more understanding in general."

For 36 years, Kersemeier worked as a teacher and an administrator in several suburban Chicago schools. Once retired, he could focus on several writing projects, including this book. Being born out of wedlock was what inspired him to delve deeper into his lineage and, by the encouragement of others, write and publish his findings. He is currently mining dozens of notebooks he has filled since age 16 for more material for another book. A collection of poems awaits publication.
