LONGWOOD, FL--For more than a decade, Xulon Press author Norma Lou Johnson walked through the trauma of seeing an impeccably godly husband and two beloved sons behave in a bizarre manner that resulted in their being jailed, moved to mental hospitals, restrained, and drugged. This pattern of behavior--spawned by the chemical disorder known as manic depression--is currently affecting families all across the world, regardless of economic status, color, or creed. In Johnson's new release, From Visions of Grandeur - to Depths of Despair: Help! Is Anyone Out There ($10.99, paperback, 978-1-61579-300-6), is an honest, heart-wrenching account of living through and understanding the nightmare of mental illness.

"It is my desire that readers will see it is possible to separate the illness from the person," the author says. "But above and beyond this, I want the readers to know that God is totally sufficient to comfort, care for, and support all the victims of mental disorder."

Painful as was this journey, Johnson knew she needed to write this book considering the prevalence of mental illness in this country and the resounding lack of information about it. It is her hope that this book will provide insight to the reader and will show that love can survive the chaotic aftermath of mental illness.

Norma Lou Johnson currently resides in Antioch, California.
